Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) | University of Cincinnati

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Cincinnati delivers high-quality, non-credit education for adults aged 50+, combining intellectual curiosity, real-world relevance, and community connection through expert-led programmes.

I designed and led a seven-week flagship lecture series for OLLI titled Food As Medicine: Eat with a Smile.

This programme explored how everyday food choices can be used proactively to prevent and manage chronic conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. Participants examined the science behind nutrition as a driver of long-term health—focusing on inflammation reduction, metabolic balance, and sustainable wellbeing.

Blending evidence-based research with culturally relevant, practical examples, the course equipped learners with actionable tools to integrate whole foods, herbs, and thoughtful meal planning into daily life. The emphasis was not on restriction, but on empowerment—using food as a form of preventive medicine to enhance vitality, resilience, and quality of life.

The programme was designed to be engaging, accessible, and immediately applicable, supporting mature learners to make informed, confident health choices—while rediscovering joy in eating well.
